Morgan 384 'Sombra de Luna' for sale

February 10th, 2022

Wow, it’s hard to believe it has been 8 years since my last posting on here. After living aboard for 9 years, I moved off my boat last spring (2021). As a good friend of mine said last year when she sold her sailboat, she is not getting out of sailing, just boat maintenance. (she’s already bought another one, half the size of the one she sold, LOL)

My boat, a 1984 Morgan 384, Sombra de Luna is for sale. She has been a great home for me, but I am looking forward to the next chapters of my life story. I am looking forward to continuing sailing, as crew, near home, or in far away places. And to doing some traveling as a landlubber. So many places to visit……….

The Morgan 384 is a Ted Brewer design (built by Charley Morgan); “a bluewater capable sailboat with a shallow draft. This is a great cruising boat, whether it is in protected waters, coastal cruising, or open ocean (for those rare and daring sailors).”  It is also a great liveaboard boat with a separate shower, water heater, refrigerator, freezer, very comfortable vberth mattress, and lots of storage. The Morgan 382 (383 & 384) was included in John Vigor’s book “Twenty Affordable Sailboats to Take You Anywhere”.  This Ted Brewer design features high performance hull shape, low profile cabin trunk, wide side decks with high sea-safe bulwarks, keel-stepped mast, skeg-hung protected rudder and prop, encapsulated keel, 12’ beam, shallow 5’ draft, and efficient deck and cockpit layout.

“Sombra de Luna”, a 1984 Morgan 384, is in very good condition, and has had many upgrades in the last 10 years. e.g., Iverson’s Design dodger, bimini, and full enclosure in 2012 (so good to have when living aboard around here), new standing and running rigging in 2018, refrigeration, new propane cookstove, new Firefly batteries in 2020, 6 inch real latex foam mattress in vberth, and many more.  The boat is located in Olympia, Washington.
