May 2021 - crewed for Tamara Lee Ann from Anacortes, WA to Ketchikan, AK. During Covid, we could go through, and anchor at night but were not allowed to go ashore. Great trip with skipper, his wife, and my friend Mary who knows this trip well.
Miscellaneous trips between Olympia and Seattle, on both my boat, and a Panda 38.
2019 renewed USCG license
July 2016 - sailed from Port Angeles, WA to Sausalito, CA on an Island Packet 35 owned by some friends. Great trip, with good friends. First not enough wind, went into Astoria. Then too much wind on our way to CA.
December 2015 - charter cruise in the British Virgin Islands; so much fun in the sun, loved Anegada Island
Passed the training for the Captain's License through Flagship Maritime Center in Tacoma, March 14th, 2014; all the paperwork will get sent in next week.
OUPV (6 pack) and Master 100 ton course (just Master 50 ton rating for me though)
Attended Safety at Sea course through The Sailing Foundation in February 22-23, 2014; great weekend.
My current sailboat is a Morgan 384, Sombra de Luna; am living aboard in Olympia Washington. Bought boat in March 2012.
Summer 2015 - flying to Juneau in early July to sail across the Gulf of Alaska to Kodiak Island (we did not make it there due to the weather.) on Sonrisa, Mary C's boat; then back to WA for 3 week trip to the San Juan Islands on my boat.
Summer 2014 - lots of local weekend trips; working too damn much......
Summer 2013 - 8 weeks from Olympia to Johnstone Strait, Vancouver Island, BC; and then return to Olympia http://www.sailblogs.com/member/sombradeluna/
Summer 2012 - 2 weeks in San Juan Islands on my new boat
First Pacific Ocean Passage completed July 28, 2011 aboard the Tamara Lee Ann, a Celestial 48 sailboat. Approx. 2700 nm, 20 days 6 hours. With Captain Doug and crew mates, Jason and Dennis, we had an awesome passage starting in Honolulu and ending in San Francisco. Wow - what a great trip!

Most of my sailing has been on 22-41' sloop or cutter rigged sailboats, but I have been on a few bigger and smaller boats. I love sailing in warm, sunny weather best (who wouldn't), but living in the northwest doesn't always mean that, so I can sail with long johns and foulies some too. Night sailing is something special and I hope to do more of that, away from land of course.

More Crewing Experience:
I have crewed on many sizes and types of boats over the years. Most of my experience has been on sailboats 30-40 feet, but the first sailboat I ever sailed on was the 41 foot Morgan. What a thrill.

Boat work experience:
Cleaning - of course, using a variety of products, i.e., the right one for the job. Understanding the right cleanup for the job; alcohol, mineral spirits, acetone, etc. is a must.
Varnishing, including the stripping (prefer to use a heat gun), sanding, and finish varnishing – have used Cetol and Epifanes varnish; both interior and exterior work.
Fiberglass work - assisted with many repair projects and learned about different resins, epoxies, hardeners (fast, slow, extra slow) and cleanup with Alcohol
Sealants, adhesive, and caulking – 4000/5200, silicone, 101; again the right one for the job, adhesive or just sealant needed makes a big difference if you want to be able to remove it some day.
Painting – bilge kote, primer and porch paint for cabin sole and inside lockers
Electrical – assisted with rewiring a Nautical 56 ketch, LOTS of wiring done, both AC and DC.
Plumbing – replumbed my Catalina with help;
I had a low volumn watermaker on my 37’ boat; so I understand the basics of a watermaker usage & operation.
Limited wood working (i.e., mostly sanding), but would love to try some hands on with the right equipment
Assisted with installing deck hardware like stanchions, cleats, jib tracks (wow, that was a lot of holes to be drilled and sealant to use….) dinghy davits
Assisted with installing new Lexan plexiglass windows; lots of scraping and cleaning before putting the new ones on.
Sanded and painted the bottom of my 37 foot Tayana; my partner did most of the work because I was still working, but I did some – enough to appreciate what a tough job that can be.
Non-skid deck finish - April 2011 - helped a friend put Kiwigrip non-skid on her Cascade 36 sailboat.
